Scam ---> american Camera

I ordered the Nikon Camera from them on 10/27/14. They are supposed to ship it to me after 8-9 days and I never get it after 3 weeks. After I read the reviews about the company. I became alert about it. 1) one week after I placed the order, I was told that the camera had been shipped on 10/29. 2) Called again on day 9, I was told that the camera was shipped to me on 10/29 (consistent with the last call?) 3) On 11/06, I called again with the answer that the camera has been shipped from Malaysia (never heard about before) 4) on 11/14/06, I was told that the camera is on back-order. I told that what they told me before. They started to say that I can get the refund. I called my credit company to dispute the charge to get the credit. Heard about Madoff scam. This may be the way for the 'Company' to get the refinancing for their business

Deceptive Advertising

Camera is listed as having a battery (see first paragraph under http://americacameras.com/index.php?id_product=302&controller=product ) but does NOT ship with battery. Called the company and they REFUSE to update the page. Deceptive and underhanded. Representative tried to tell me that the info was located elsewhere on the site, and that he therefore did not need to change the page. Classic Bait & Switch

As widely reported elsewhere, this seems to be their sales strategy. Happened with me with a Sony Cybershot 1. Buy advertise model at low price vs. other retailers inc. Amazon ($375) 2. A few days after purchasing receive email asking me to contact them in order to expedite the process. Over phone, I am told battery life is short and offered a longer life battery 3. New charge billed to card is $569. Original purchase is replaced with a completely different model (US vs. European) 4. I only noticed this increased charge on delivery. When I try to return I am told it would cost me $100 for insurance and they would only refund $467!

So what was your response to purchasing this longer life battery?

No info on make and kit. No difference in extended warranty

I am planning to purchase Nikon d5300 and americacamera.com showed a cheaper price. I was not sure about the website, so I went on to search review and ended up here. All the reviews made in this site are true and I noticed a few on my own. The website only gives detailed description about the product spec. But nothing on the make or kit or anything for that matter. I tried to inquire through phone, the person picked up was not helpful. Moreover, the warranty has no differences in description from "extended warranty" to "professional extended warranty". They both give the same description. Thanks to this site and review. Am going to stay away from them..

Another Bait & Switch

I found America Cameras through a Google shopping search when I was comparing prices on a Canon T3i. They had the cheapest price by a couple hundred dollars ($395, no tax or shipping) and seemed to have good reviews via the Google source, so I placed an order. A couple of days later someone called to verify my order and asked what kind of battery I wanted. Somewhat confused, I told him which one I needed. He also said a charger wasn't included either, so he'd throw one of those in as well. He confirmed he had everything he needed, and then proceeded to give me my new total-$599. I asked him why it was so much higher than the price I was given online, and he told me it was because I had actually ordered the Chinese model that doesn't work in the US, and the American model is more expensive. I figured that was about average price for a T3i, so I told him to go ahead with it. Once I got online, however, I found one on Amazon Prime for $579, so I called to cancel my original order. I pressed "2" for customer service after listening to the prerecorded message, and was on hold for several minutes. After that I hung up and dialed again, this time pressing "1" for ordering information. I was on hold for a couple of minutes, but they did eventually pick up the line. I asked to speak to someone about cancelling an order, so they put me through to another person who verified my information. After halfway explaining that I didn't want to pay $200 more than the expected price, the person I was talking to cut me off to say that he was the one who had originally called me to verify my order. He then confirmed the cancellation and hung up. Please be aware if you place an order with this company that you will probably end up paying significantly more than the price that shows online. I will be watching our account to make sure they don't process the charge, and if they do I'll be calling the credit card company to do a chargeback.

Same thing happened to me today. Husband shopped all over for the camera he wants, and I found everybody was selling it for $648 except America Cameras, who had it for $609.

Trying to find out what the difference was, I did see that the camera was likely to not include a battery or charger, so I went ahead and ordered a charger and two batteries on eBay for $28. Today I received an e-mail from America Cameras saying they needed to confirm something about the camera I ordered. Guy wanted to know what kind of battery I wanted, the two hour or five hour and mentioned some people want to have two. I said I didn't even think it came with a battery, so I better call the husband to the phone.

I got back to my phone in time to hear the husband asking if he was offering to sell us a battery, and he said yes. So I said, no, we don't need a battery, since i just ordered two from e-Bay. So, in summary of our order, the America Cameras guy said well, shipping and handling is free, and we normally charge sales tax, but in your case we are waiving that, so with the insurance, your total price will be $679. I immediately told him to cancel the order and to send me an e-mail verifying he had done so.

He did not seem the least bit surprised, and I did get an e-mail afterward saying my order was cancelled and my credit card would not be charged. What a *** experience, especially the time lost thinking we had bought a camera, and now we have not.

Yes, we told you FedEx, but really we'll ship it to you by USPS within two weeks

Ordered online afterhours and was not able to get weekend discount to apply, so called back the next morning. Was upsold some additional items, and I was then told that because of that, they were going to expedite shipping and I would be receiving it FedEx. That was almost 2 weeks ago. The "customer service" rep I spoke with (and I was being very calm and reasonable) said I had never spoken with him personally so he can't say why the guy told me it would be shipped fedex and there's nothing to be done about it. Nothing to do.

Bait and switch - buyer BEWARE

I ordered a canon t3i and a 2013 samsung 65" flatscreen TV from them because the prices were excellent. I did a little homework before ordering and found mostly good reviews, but obviously didn't dig deep enough. I got an email after I placed an order (my CC hadn't been charged yet) saying they needed to talk to me to "process my order" so I called and got hung up on a few times, put on hold forever, etc. I decided to just stick it out and tried calling them around 5x in one day. I finally talked to them today to find out that the 65" TV is on backorder and the 2014 version has "much more technology, etc" (I did my research and decided I like the 2013 better anyway) and I could get it for another $299. I said "no way, cancel the order" and mentioned that nowhere on the website did it say 'on backorder.' I then mentioned the canon t3i and he said, "oh you ordered the international model - the US model comes with this and that, etc. etc. for $549 (which is the same price as everywhere else, the one I ordered was $399 and said NOTHING about being an international model). So at this point, i informed said gentleman to cancel the entire order and is was obviously a MAJOR BAIT AND SWITCH. He proceeded to argue with me like a ***, but at least he cancelled the order.

I tried to buy a Canon 6D

I called America Cameras - had to wait two minutes - then a man answered. I said I wanted to order the canon 6d I have seen on their website. He said it would be an Asian version and I would not be able to use it in the states. I tried to get an explanation. He could not explain. I asked again. He did not have an answer. Then he wanted to sell a different product to me. Then he hang up. What???? Stay away from America Cameras, even though the have very low prices on their website americacameras.com but these guys seem nonserious.

Bait and switch, upsell scam

They advertise a low price. Then put your order on hold. Then make you call them and try to upsell you. They tell you that something is wrong with the advertised one, doesn't come with needed accessories, in menus Japanese... ect. and that the one you want actually cost 30% more, negating the only reason you would have ever placed an order with such small time, ***-show, retailer. words, words, words, words, words, words, words, words, a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a .

I ordered a Sony 3D TV. After more than a week had passed and I received no shipping information, I called them, and they told me that I had actually ordered the commercial model (it didn't say "commercial" anywhere on the webpage or the order) which didn't include a stand (as pictured) or any 3D glasses (essential for 3D viewing).

They also said this was an international model (also not shown) and if I wanted the consumer version with the glasses and the stand, it would be several hundred dollars more. Classic bait & switch, customer service was extremely rude and hung up on me several times, and refused to answer my questions. These people may be violating federal law, and I have reported them to the FTC for investigation.

I had them cancel my order, but it never showed up as cancelled in the system. Any charges on my credit card will be treated as fraud.

Beware cameras come without battery, charger, and accessories. Camera is not USA model.

So ordered a Canon EOS Rebel T5i with EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens a week ago. After a day decided to call to confirm the order. Good thing I did! I was told that cameras can take 2 weeks to arrive, when i ordered on the website it said 7days! Also was told that cameras ship without any accessories at all, even without battery and charger, this information was no where on the website when I was ordering, this caught me by surprise. I was also told that this was also a foreign model, a USA T5i would cost $949. I thought this was outrageous so I cancelled the order right then on the phone. Beware of this company

Taking forever to get what I ordered

I ordered a camera a month ago today and still haven't received the camera. My thought is that when I order a camera, it was in stock or could be acquired quickly. Customer service is horrible. They rarely return emails and the phones are not answered during the hours of operation. When they do answer the phone, you are on terminal hold. When I purchased the camera, I wanted it within a few weeks to take pictures of our new grandson. Never happened. I cancelled the camera and am monitoring my credit card to make sure they don't charge me.
